Printed paper cup barcode verification should include the finished curved cup, not only the flat artwork file. A symbol that scans on a screen can be affected by curvature, seam overlap, print growth or background graphics after converting. Successful decoding by one phone is not the same as standardized print-quality verification.

Test representative finished cups using the intended presentation and reader environment as a separate functional check. Include the relevant range of sample positions and production variation. Keep failures identifiable. Repeatedly rotating one selected cup until a phone eventually reads it is not a reliable demonstration of normal scanning performance.

Release the artwork with a repeatable check

Retain the approved flat proof, finished-cup sample, decoded data and verification evidence under the same revision. Define when rechecking is needed, such as a material, artwork, print mode or cup-size change. A previous result belongs to the tested configuration, not every future reproduction of the graphic.
